It’s the moment when you lift off into the unknown that a fishing trip like this really starts. I totally get that the Seychelles are one of the world’s most desirable hot weather holiday and honeymoon destinations, but to me they will always be synonymous with some of the best saltwater flats fishing to be found anywhere on this earth.



I love flying down from the northern hemisphere and landing at Mahe airport because I know that in a short while I will be taking back off again in a much smaller plane and heading out to what I know as the Seychelles. The remote Seychelles. The Seychelles the regular tourists know nothing about. The honeymooners can keep the white sandy beaches and upmarket hotels, because all I want to do is to head into those huge blue skies and drop down on one of the remote atolls where I know that pristine flats and hordes of hungry fish abound. Honestly, it’s never remotely arduous leaving our winter behind to go to the Seychelles….
